Lead Project Designer License
The license information below is specific to the state of Minnesota.
This license applies to the following occupations:
Architects
Civil Engineers
Occupational Health and Safety Specialists
Description
Requirements
1) A bachelor's degree in engineering or architecture and one year of experience in building construction or design; or four years of experience in building construction or design.
2) Be a registered architect, registered professional engineer, certified industrial hygienist, certified safety professional, or a certified asbestos project designer;
3) Have two years of experience in regulated lead work, asbestos-related work, asbestos management activities, or other environmental remediation; or
4) Have four years of experience in building construction, design, or a related field.
To receive a license as a Minnesota Lead Project Designer an individual must:
1) successfully complete both an MDH permitted lead supervisor initial training course and an MDH permitted lead project designer initial training course.
2) Submit license application to the Minnesota Department of Health.
3) Include photocopy of your training course diplomas.
4) Include a clear photograph of yourself. It must show your head and upper shoulders occupying an area of one inch by one inch. Do not cut the photo to size. Write your name on the back of the photo.

Initial or renewal project manager license - $100
Duplicate project designer license - $25
A cashier's check or money order, payable to the Minnesota Department of Health. Do not send cash. Personal checks are not accepted. This fee is not refundable.
