Community ServicesFinding help nearbyCounselors often need to assist their students or clients who encounter barriers to their education or employment. There are many local public and community based organizations who provide such services. Some of these resources include targeted eligibility requirements and others are open to all Minnesotans. Each organization will work with individuals to determine if they are eligible for programs and, if not, will refer them to other resources. - works with individuals who have disabilities and provides a variety of services.
These include but are not limited to: vocational planning, employment information
and referral service. They also provide guidance in maintaining employment. State Services for the Blind (SSB) - operates under the principle that blindness should never stop people from obtaining jobs, participating in training, or in any activities which reflect their potential and interests. Services are available to persons of any age in Minnesota who has a vision loss that creates a barrier to their vocational or personal independence. The Ticket to Work and Self-Sufficiency Program - an employment program for people with disabilities who are interested in going to work. through an affiliate network. LegalMid-Minnesota Legal Assistance (MMLA) - provides legal advice and representation to low-income clients in 20 counties in central Minnesota. MMLA, through the Minnesota Disability Law Center, also provides legal advice and representation to people with disabilities throughout Minnesota on legal issues related to their disability.
