The online advantageColleges and universities have recognized for many years that online learning is an exciting and dynamic way of teaching and learning. Many colleges and universities offer numerous courses, and even entire degree programs online. This is a relatively new option for high school students, but the availability of and demand for online courses is expanding rapidly in Minnesota. High school students who develop the skills to succeed in online learning will have an advantage in college-level online courses. Many educators consider “information and computer technology literacy” or “online competency” to be key skills for lifelong learning that all students should acquire before graduating from high school. Resources available to online learnersComprehensive online high schools offer college and career planning services, as well as guidance from school counselors. In addition, excellent online resources are available, including ISEEK, the Internet System for Education and Employment Knowledge. ISEEK is a comprehensive web-based gateway to Minnesota career, employment, education, and business development information and services.
